A Perry is a family owned and run company established in 1925 by Arthur Perry. He started out by making steel Gutter Brackets and Hinges in Old Hill in the Black Country.
In 1927 Arthur’s son Ernie began to help his father with the business at the age of twelve and still attends work on a daily basis at the age of ninety four. In 1935 Arthur’s second son Cliff began working in the business at the age of fourteen.
Over the years the product range began to grow along with our reputation and business. This led to moving to a new purpose made premises in Doulton Road, Cradley Heath in 1955 where we still operate from today on a site of over 50,000 square feet of factory, warehouse and offices.
Ten years after this move in 1965, Ernie’s son-in-law Alan Dunnaker joined the company. The business continued to grow gradually over the years. Guy Perry joined his father Cliff, along with his uncle in 1981. Shortly afterwards in 1984 Alan’s son Brian joined the company and his younger son Ian started in 1995. Following on in the family tradition, Guy’s son Chris joined the operation in 2006 ensuring continuous family commitment and personal family attention.
1996 saw the A Perry range grow considerably when we purchased the tooling and machinery of Jonah Banks Ltd. from the administrators of JB Hardware. This allowed us to vastly increase our range, introducing many traditional ironmongery products such as Tower Bolts, Brenton Bolts, Handrail Brackets etc.
There was further growth in April 2006 when A Perry purchased the stocks and machinery of Glynne Robinson Studding from the administrators of Eliza Tinsley, as well as taking on many of their staff. We are now able to manufacture and supply a huge range of Threaded Bar and related products that cannot be rivalled within the industry.
A Perry now employ over 80 staff, and still manufacture products, including all special Threaded Bar. With the demise of many competitors and our continual growth, we are now the largest supplier and manufacturer of Hinges, Ironmongery, Threaded Bar and Chain in the UK, supplying customers around the world.
Our success is built on hard work and dedication, as well as offering a quality product at competitive prices backed by an excellent service. With our fourth generation now in place, long will it continue.
