The 285 has a long (10 1/2"), thick blade suitable for large framing work when working with deep mortices where extra strength is required. The blade is tapered along its length to prevent binding. The heavy duty ash handle features double steel hoops allowing use with a mallet. Overall tool length is 19 1/2"
