Returns

Non Faulty and Unused internet orders or shop purchases:

UK customers can return any non-faulty goods within one month of receipt*, provided that they are in our opinion complete with their original packaging in as new condition. This does not apply though to items made especially to your order such as electrical switches and sockets where insert and/or rocker colours etc are specified by the customer, or items cut to length etc. Such items cannot be returned.

You will be required to cover the cost of the return postage. Please note we cannot be responsible for and so will not refund or replace goods that do not reach us, so we recommend that you use a delivery method that provides insurance. A Certificate of Posting (available free) covers cheaper items, for more expensive items services such as Recorded Delivery, Special Delivery or Parcel Force, all can be insured for a small cost - ask at the Post Office.

All non-faulty returned items, must be completely unused. We have had boots returned with mud in the tread, clothing with sweet wrappers in the pockets, chisels that have been sharpened etc. Such returns will not be credited and will only be posted back if the customer agrees to pay the costs of postage and insurance by a provider of our choosing.

Where items are returned for exchange, we will charge delivery on the replacement goods at cost regardless of the value of the original order. Where the exchange goods are not identical in price to the original order we will charge or credit the difference accordingly. If additional payment is required, we will not send exchange goods until that payment has been received in full.

Overseas customers

We will provide the same service to our overseas customers as we provide to our UK customers, except that postage on an exchanged items will be charged at cost. All charges and refunds will be processed in GBP so any refund amount will vary with exchange rates and may not be identical to the original order.

Rules on returning unwanted/unsuitable items that you have ordered are governed within the UK by the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

* Unused non-faulty items that have been in your possession for more than one month may be returned at our discretion (this will largely depend on whether the item is still a current model or not and whether it is still one that we stock). If the items were originally sent out to you post free we will refund the cost minus the cost to us of the original postage. Please contact us prior to returning any such goods.

Faulty goods

Faulty goods can be returned at any time within the stated warranty period - please contact us first though so that we know that the goods are coming back and what the fault/s is/are. Please note that the final decision as to whether the goods are faulty rests with the manufacturer. If the goods are accepted as faulty then they will be repaired or replaced free of charge. We regret that, when faulty goods need to be posted back to the manufacturer for further assessment and we then have to await their decision, this can be a rather lengthy process, and the bigger the manufacturer, the longer it seems to take.

On all returns, used clothing and boots must be CLEAN, and this includes the tread of boot soles. Items returned in a smelly, dirty, or damp state will not be dealt with and will be left for the owner to collect at their own expense. NB Please don't wash footwear in a washing machine as this will invariably render any warranty invalid.

UK Customers: If the goods are accepted as faulty we will refund your postage of the goods back to us within the UK to a reasonable amount (ie if you have used an expensive same day courier service when you could have used Royal Mail 48hrs then we will refund what you would have paid had you used the cheaper option!) - NB we cannot accept any claim for any other extra costs involved arising out of a faulty item, other than return postage).

Overseas Customers: Please note that we cannot refund your postage however faulty items may be - please consider this before ordering.

What We Need to Know: We cannot do anything about your return if we do not know who you are, why you are returning the goods or when they were purchased.

Please include all this information, clearly and legibly, on a single page of paper in the parcel. If possible please also put your original order number on the page.

It is surprising but we have been sent returns with insufficient or illegible information regarding the sender and/or what the problem is with the goods. All such inadequately documented parcels are stored to one side in the hope that the sender will realise that nothing has been done about it and contacts us! We will not store any parcel for longer than one year. The contents of any such parcels that have remained with us for one year without being claimed will be thrown away / given away / or donated to charity, whichever we deem most appropriate.
