Clifton - No 7 Try / Jointer
Product Reference: [ 2 3/8 ]
The No 7. The Daddy of the bench planes. A a 22" long slab of grey cast iron machined to perfection by Clifton to the same standards used when producing tooling for the aerospace industry.
Weighing in at 10 lbs [4.6Kgs], fitted with a 2 3/8" high carbon steel blade hardened to Rockwell 60-62, this is the tool to use for getting board edges perfectly true and flat.
As with all Clifton woodworking tools, the No 7 is an accurate and smoothly functioning tool aimed at the discerning cabinet maker and woodworker.
The plane itself requires no flattening or fettling in prior to use, although the most users prefer to hone the blade themselves to their preferred cutting angle.
The Body and Frog are mated in the traditional "Bedrock" manner. The handle and knob are bubinga. The cap iron is Clifton's two-piece design, the adjuster and lever clamp are solid polished brass.
*** Due to a recent change of ownership, Clifton are changing the colour of the plane livery. The colour "graphite" is replacing the familiar green that we are used to. We will update the images on the website as soon as we are able to. Customers that receive a plane in the new colour need not worry, as nothing else is changing. The same high manufacturing standards, from the same Sheffied foundry, by the same people. ***
